What's my Valheim seed?

A dedicated server never shows you its seed. And if you typed one into a map generator and got somebody else's coastline, you probably typed the world name. The real seed is saved inside the world's .fwl or .fwl2 file, so this page reads it straight from there.

1. Add your world file

Drag the world file here

Takes a .fwl, .fwl.old or .fwl2. Anywhere on the page counts as a drop. It's read in your browser and never uploaded.

2. If you can't find the file

You want the small one. Newer saves keep each world in its own folder, and the file is _main.N.fwl2, where N goes up with every save, so take the highest. Older saves have a single YourWorld.fwl. Leave the .db, .db2 and .chunk files alone, the seed isn't in them.

Rented or dedicated server
Pull it down with your host's file manager or SFTP. Look for a worlds or worlds_local folder in the server's save directory.
Windows, saved locally
Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim into the file picker's address bar, then open worlds_local or worlds.
Windows, Steam Cloud
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<your steam id>\892970\remote\worlds, then the folder with your world's name.
Linux
Usually ~/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/, same folder names as Windows.
